Winner of the 2016 Red Dot award in the lighting design category, the FollowMe portable lamp is characterised by a meticulously thought balance between practicality and stylishness. Since it was released on the market a few years ago, it has managed to establish itself as a referent when it comes to contemporary portable lighting design.
Designed by Inma Bermúdez in 2014, one of the distinctive traits of the FollowMe portable lamp is the way in which the wooden handle, rather than being a primarily functional element as in other portable lamps, is the core aesthetic element of the design as a whole. It functions as an airy frame for the rocking opal diffuser and matte polycarbonate body, which together constitute the second main element of the FollowMe portable lamp. The elegant opal diffuser itself can be tilted, which allows you to direct better the warm and gentle LED light it emits for activities such as book reading.
Behind the product
The FollowMe portable lamp can be set on any flat surface, indoors or outdoors. It can also be hanged and used as an overhead light. Besides being a cosy bedroom or living room light, it is also perfect for taking out to the garden or terrace. The light intensity can be adjusted by using the three-stage brass dimmer located at the lamp’s base. At the lowest intensity, the FollowMe lamp’s light is comparable to candlelight, which makes it an ideal lamp for outdoors dining. If you want an enhanced light output for outdoor activities, you might want to take a look at the FollowMe lamp’s larger sibling, the FollowMe Plus lamp.
Its portability is enhanced by its generous battery life. The built-in battery of the FollowMe portable lamp can be easily charged with the included USB charger, and it lasts for a varying amount of time depending on the setting chosen with the three-stage dimmer: 5 hours at the highest brightness, 10 hours at medium, and 20 hours at the lowest brightness setting.
