There is an amusing small anecdote behind the naming of this particular bar stool. Back in 2006 when the product launch was about to happen in Milan, Patricia Urquiola (an award-winning Spanish designer) had not decided a name for it yet. With the pressure of having to come up with a name at the last moment, she jokingly decided to call it Last Minute. On the other hand, the name might also evoke the behaviour of bar-goers who, more often prone to drifting around following the haphazard social dynamics that unfold in these kinds of establishments, might usually sit at the bar just for brief periods of time. The Last Minute bar stool is built with highly resistant materials, which makes it an optimal choice for bars, cafés and restaurants, indoors and outdoors. Its distinctive structure is composed of a lacquered steel frame and a stainless steel footrest. The meticulous attention to detail shines through in the way in which their point of contact is designed: notice how the legs of the bar stool are slightly bent inwards to allow for the transversal footrest to wrap itself around them and conserve a perfectly squared shape.
However, although the Last Minute bar stool is perfect for lively settings such as those mentioned above, the fully ergonomic seat design will also welcome you to stay on it for longer periods of time. The seat itself is made from polyethylene, which is a lightweight and durable thermoplastic. It is shaped through rotomoulding (also called rotational moulding), which is a casting technique for plastic which allows you to create solid single piece elements. You can be sure that the seat won’t rip, break or tear.
The Last Minute bar stool is available in three different heights: 79cm, 64cm and 49cm. Each height is suitable for different settings and activities. Whereas the tallest and medium height stools are perfect for a bar or a kitchen counter, the lowest is more fitting to be used with a regular dining or coffee table.
Besides the various height options, the Last Minute bar stool also comes in three different colours: white, black and taupe/sand. In all three cases, the colour is homogeneously applied to the polyethylene seat and the lacquered steel frame, thus enhancing its sleek appearance. Another remarkable design detail: the footrest contrasts with the rest of the steel frame by displaying a stainless steel finish. Besides this being a pleasant visual contrast, it also makes this surface much easier to clean.
